Exploitation is when someone tricks you into doing something for them.
Grooming is when someone prepares you to do something unsafe or illegal for them.
You may be at risk of being exploited or groomed if a new friend asks you to do ‘favours’ for them.
Or if you are given expensive presents.
Or if strangers visit your home.
Or if you are offered alcohol or drugs.
Or if someone suddenly gives you lots of compliments.
Or if you are given money, phones or other electronic devices.
Or if someone asks you to carry or deliver a parcel for them.
Or if you are asked to keep secrets.
Or if someone tells you to trust them.
If you think this might be happening to you, tell your trusted adult or call 101 to talk to the police.
Or talk to a police officer.
Or, if you do not want to give your name, call Crimestoppers.
